[Letter] 1877 Jan. 11, Greensboro, N.C. to John A. Broadus, Greenville, S.C. / S.F. Conrad. 1877.

Asks Broadus about a point of church discipline. "A male member of my church became offended at another because of an expression which was used unguardedly at a church meeting in reference to calling a pastor. The remark was 'I do not care who you call as long as you do not call a Yankee.' The member offended is a northern man." The offended member neglected his church duties and was "arraigned before the spiritual community of the church." The two refused to be reconciled. Conrad wonders "can the church grant a letter with this disaffection known to the church, that the member applying for it is not at peace with another member?"
